Auto-defrag
Whenever a file is stored into the hard drive, it is first divided into smaller files, to be able to fit inside it. These smaller files are then stored separately, throughout different parts of the HD. This is called fragmentation, and it is a problem for computer performance.
Because of the slowness of the HD, if the files are separated it takes a much longer time to find and access all of those files when we want to open the original one than it would if they were closer together.
Defragmentation is the process of physically organizing those files, making them more accesible, and saving valuable time.
Auto-defrag refers to the automatization of this process by the OS.
